Hike itinerary

Heading out from Tbilisi
We meet at 8:30 AM near 300 Aragveli metro station and head out toward Eagle Canyon.
The drive takes about 2-2.5 hours.
Descending into the gorge
Grab your backpacks from the car and let's head down into the gorge. This is where the real fun begins. First, we'll tackle plenty of vertical ladders and steep trails. We'll cross over a waterfall and scramble over rocks. Expect a few rope descents with safety gear and river crossings. The scenery is stunning: vines, creepers, boulders, cliffs, and the sound of rushing water below.

This part of the trek is only 6 kilometers long, but it'll take us 3 to 5 hours to navigate. Intense vibes guaranteed :)
Lunch by the lake
After clearing all the obstacles, we'll finally climb out of the gorge into the forest to a small lake and have some hot tea there.
Heading back to Tbilisi
Around 7 PM, we'll start making our way back to Tbilisi.

What to bring

  • Jacket and pants you don't mind getting dirty
  • Sturdy trekking boots or sneakers with grippy soles
  • Thermos with tea, water bottle
  • Fleece / sweater / thermal layers
  • Gloves
  • Power bank
  • Light snacks
  • Trekking poles
  • Headlamp
  • Extra socks
  • Change of shoes

Route highlights

  • For the tricky parts, we use climbing safety gear
  • You won't need SPF or wind protection here. The gorge is shady and calm.
  • In rainy weather, we don't go to Eagle Canyon, it gets way too slippery and dangerous.
  • Better not to bring a dog. We've had cases, but it's less than fun :)
  • Pay attention to your footwear. Non-slip soles only —otherwise you'll be constantly falling on your butt and having a rough time.
  • You might get your feet wet at the river crossings, so bring spare socks and a change of shoes.
