We kick off from Lake Tabackuri (1991 m). We'll hike through alpine meadows with views of the slopes of Mount Tavkvetili (~2,583 m), an ancient stratovolcano. Then we head toward the volcanic slopes of Shavnabada and Shavi, trekking over talus fields and through rhododendron thickets as we gain altitude. We'll camp at the foot of Kyzyldag (the Red Mountain) on the shore of a high-altitude lake (~2,714 m).
